International applicants are welcome. Applicants with Bachelor's or Master's degrees may apply to ISTA's interdisciplinary PhD programme, subject to the programme's academic requirements. The programme is fully funded; PhD students are employed by ISTA and receive salary and social-security coverage. The 2027 call is expected to open in late October 2026 and the applicant deadline is 8 January 2027 at 15:00 CET.
